Alice in Wonderland is a continuation of the original Alice in Wonderland movie released back in 1951. The new rendition was released on March 5th, 2010 and had built up quite a reputation for itself even before the release date. Much of this hype was due to the fact that Johnny Depp was cast as the mad hatter and this brought along his “fanboy” crowd into this new movie.
Once again, I don’t do many movie reviews, but I felt the need to go over this one because it had such huge hype behind its release and I just wanted to share my honest opinion about the film.
To start, I thought the storyline was weak and fairly confusing to be honest. I was a bit confused going into this movie, because I didn’t do any research on it before going and I thought it was supposed to be a remake of the original not a continuation of it. This made the first half of the movie very confusing and I thought it was horrible, but then when I realized it was a continuation of the original story it gave it a little more credit.
As far as casting goes, I think all of the actors did a very good job with their parts and this, by far, was the strongest point of the movie. The only thing I was a little disappointed about in this area was that Johnny Depp wasn’t as much into his character as I expected. With all of the hype he brought to this movie, I expected more than was received, but I guess it is what it is and this wasn’t too big of a flaw in my opinion.
Next up, we have graphics, animation, CGI, special effects and all that good stuff. Now, I went to see Alice in Wonderland mainly for the same reason I went to see Avatar, for all the hard work put into the graphical design and green screening. I really enjoy this part of movies and always try to observe and learn from how movies did or didn’t do things in this area. As far as Alice in Wonderland goes, a phenomenal job was done in this aspect and I have no complaints whatsoever. All the graphical renderings were beautiful and I can’t remember any rough edges or any places where someone slacked off in this area.
Last, but not least, now is whether I recommend or do not recommend going to see this film. My honest opinion to you is that if you’re going to take your child to see Alice in Wonderland, I would say maybe, but I would say the original would be more enjoyable to them. As far as you going with other adults or people your age, I guess just going because the original Alice in Wonderland was a part of your childhood is enough of a reason to check it out, but I would say do not get your hopes up because this film was not up to my expectations.
Resident Evil 5 was released on March 13th, 2009 and already had a large array of fans from the previous releases in the series. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to purchasing this title until about a full year after it’s release date. The reason for this was just because I was never really a huge fan of the series, in fact, I had hardly even played any of the previous titles.
Let’s start off the review this time with the graphics breakdown. Overall, taking into consideration when Resident Evil 5 was released and the graphics that were being produced by other games released around the same time, Resident Evil 5 has pretty well done graphics. Most of the time I was completely satisfied with them and had nothing to complain about, but occasionally I would come across something small, like a texture or the background that’s outside of the map boundaries.
The only big thing graphicwise that I thought needed some more TLC were the zombies. Most of the textures on them were poorly done and just looked like a sloppy job to me. But other than that, I would say the graphics were very well done and they made Resident Evil 5 look great.
Next up is the overall storyline and gameplay. I started to play Resident Evil 5 on my own, through the single player campaign and I have to say that makes the game no fun at all. The only way that I had fun playing through the campaign was by playing with a friend co-op through it. Playing with the CPU was just boring and I thought it was just no fun at all. So if you’re thinking of purchasing this game for the single player campaign, I would say don’t waste your money, because it is no fun at all. Other than that, the rest of the gameplay was good and it had a good story to go along with it.
Overall, Resident Evil 5 is a well made game and I would say it’s not a must buy, but it doesn’t hurt to have it laying around just encase you’re in the mood for rocking some zombies!
When you buy a gaming system, normally there is at least one controller included with the package and most of the time, people don’t even bother to buy any other controllers just bcause they see no use for them. This is the mindset I had for quite a while, but I finally broke down and purchased one and now I’m here to give you the pro’s and con’s of this purchase.
So let’s start off the review by going over the overall build quality and initial impression of the Deep Red Dualshock 3 controller. When I first held the DualShock 3 Controller after I took it out of the package, I thought it felt a lot more solid, well built, and overall just had a satisfying feeling after spending the $50+ on a controller. The Dual Shock 3 controller feels nice and solid, it brings back those PS1 and PS2 memories and makes you feel at home with the next-gen system.
The one thing I can say about the Dual Shock 3 Controller right out of the box is that the analog nubs were a bit stiff, but if you’ve ever bought a new controller, this is to be expected. But don’t worry, after a few hours of hardcore gaming, the nubs loosen up and feel just like you imagine they should.
One of the huge pro’s to purchasing a DualShock 3 controller instead of sticking with the standard Six-Axis controller, is that if you’re planning on purchasing any attachments or add-ons for your controller, sometimes they don’t fit so well on the standard Six-Axis controller. This could be a large potential problem, especially if you spend another $20-60 for a simple attachment that may or may not fit correctly on the old controller. Thanks to Kontrol Freek for sending me over some Speed Freek and FPS Freek products to review, my eyes were opened to this problem and now am very satisfied with the new controller purchase.
As far as con’s go for this purchase, I looked around and could only find one potential problem that people said they were having. They said that it seemed like the Deep Red paint on the controller was thin in spots and you could see the internal lights showing through the front of their DualShock 3 Controller. I checked on mine and even with me trying to see the light through the front of the controller, I couldn’t pick it out, so maybe those people just got a bad batch of paint on their controller, but I don’t have that problem at all.
This about wraps up the Deep Red Dual Shock 3 Controller review. I honestly didn’t think that I could come up with so many things to discuss about a controller, but I guess I did, so I hope it was helpful and you keep coming back to check out future unboxings, reviews, and gadget reveals!
What is a Tix Clock you may ask? Well, simply put, its a geeky clock that uses flashing LED’s to tell you the time. Not only is it a cool idea, but it also adds a lot of flavor to any room, office, or desk you put it in. Plus, it also comes in two colors for even more versatility!
Be sure if you purchase the LED Tix Clock to go through one of the links below =)
The LED Tix Clock is one of those cool gadgets that I’ve been wanting to get my hands on for years not, but I just never got around to actually ordering one for myself.
As far as first impressions go, I was actually a little bit disappointed, I thought it felt way too light and flimsy for a product with this price tag, I thought it would have a few more options on the back for different modes, and I wasn’t very impressed with the fact that you have to manually reset the time ever time you unplug the Tix Clock.
After some use though, I came to like my LED Tix Clock a lot more than at first glance. The weight issue isn’t a huge deal, especially since it just sits on my desk and I never pick it up. As far as the options on the back, well, to be honest I really didn’t even mess with the options they gave me, so I guess it’s not a huge deal either. And last, but not least, the self keeping time, well this does bug me, because, for real, its 2010, when you buy a clock for this price, it should do more than just keep time, which the Tix Clock does, and it should also keep track of the time even when it gets unplugged.
Overall, there isn’t too much to say about the LED Tix Clock, it’s just a cool little gadget to turn heads. I will say though, that the price tag is a bit much for what the Tix Clock offers. I think that ThinkGeek should remodel the Tix Clock and add in some more features and release a second-gen version, or something to that degree.
I think that’s about all I have to say about the Tix Clock. If you’re looking to buy one for yourself, I would say go for it if you have some extra cash to spend, but otherwise, I wouldn’t be saving up you’re money for one, I just don’t think it’s that great of a product to do so.
So here’s just a few updates for all of you for 2010.
First off, the reviews are going to be a little more spread out for now. I’m going to try do release at least one a week, due to the vlogs every day and just to me being busy and wanting some more free time, but I will continue to release at least one a week.
Next, if you want to see what I’m doing every day, check out my other channel and watch what I do every day for a whole year!
Other than that, I think that’s about it, so just keep checking back for more unboxings, reviews, and gadget reveals!
