Critter Crunch Review

Critter Crunch was originally created for the iPhone and iPod Touch in the Apple App Store, but has now made it’s grand appearance on the PSN!

Critter Crunch was inspired by classic puzzle games like Magical Drop and AstroPop, except Critter Crunch has you controlling Biggs, a furry little creature that lives on Krunchatoa. And as the food chain goes, the goal is to survive and grow, while taking care of his young named Smalls. Basically there are too many animals in Krunchatoa’s ecosystem and Biggs needs to take care of this overpopulation. There’s only one catch, Biggs doesn’t actually eat the other animals on Krunchatoa, Biggs enjoys the jewels that are dropped once the other creatures explode from overeating.

So lets begin with the controls, this is just about the simplest game I have ever come across on a next-gen system. You literally have four buttons used in the game play of Critter Crunch and two of them are the d-pad arrows left and right. If youre looking for a game that literally anyone can pick up and play, this has got to be it. Despite the fact that the game itself takes a little time to get the hang of, at least you dont have to worry about trying to remember which button does what.

Secondly, were going to discuss the graphics. Overall, for a PSN game thats not meant to have the biggest and best graphics being as its more of a Mario style 2D game, Critter Crunches graphics are, well, as youd expect. It has that classic arcade look to go along with the classic feel and the two flow together almost flawlessly to make a classic looking, easy to pick up and play, game for anyone who needs some entertainment.

The object of the game, as I said before, is to basically feed the smaller creatures to the medium creatures and the medium creatures to the large creatures in the most efficient way possible, by making large combos and using special creatures to make the combos even larger and to last longer, which in turn gives you a bigger gem when they explode. Thats pretty much the entire concept of Critter Crunch in a nutshell, but as you get more experienced youre eyes become trained to put together bigger better combos in the least amount of time and moves possible as you race against the clock or against a competitor!

Not only is there multiple single player modes to choose from, but there are almost just as many multiplayer game types that you receive access to with the purchase of Critter Crunch! So if you get bored, or just need a break from the strenuous single player modes, you can hop online and VS a friend or just a random player who you get matched with to kill some time!

Overall, Critter Crunch is a very solid game and deserves a purchase if youve ever had fun playing a puzzle game. I personally didnt really get too big into the arcade type games, but I found Critter Crunch to be some good fun, even though Im by no means good at it. So if youre wondering about the purchase of this game, I would say go ahead and pick it up, but if you just absolutely hate puzzle games, then Critter Crunch probably isnt for you.

The Monopoly Worldwide App for the iPhone and iPod Touch costs $.99 in the App Store and I must say, it’s completely worth it. There has been a lot of time put into developing Monopoly Worldwide and its more than worth the price tag!

So, there isn’t a whole lot that you can say about a Monopoly game, as long as it plays Monopoly it pretty much gets a plus one. As far as Monopoly Worldwide goes, it gives a high level of customization and the game play is smooth and easy to understand.

So first off we will talk about the graphics, as far as graphics go on the iPhone or iPod Touch, it’s fairly limited, but Monopoly Worldwide pushes the limits. The graphical design of the room you’re playing Monopoly in is pretty insane, it really makes you wonder about what the iPhone and iPod Touch are really capable of!

Monopoly Here and Now

The graphics of the Monopoly board and game pieces are acceptable, they’re a little rough around the edges and the textures are a little flat, but it’s nothing so bad that it makes you cringe. The animations are very smooth and help bring the game together.

Another plus in Monopoly Worldwide is the level of customization you have to all the details of your game. I really like the fact that you have multiple options to change the rules of the game to some of the other commonly accepted rules, it really brings that personal touch to the Application. I also like how they added new game token pieces for you to play with, although I think they should have given you the option to play with the original pieces if you want to.

Overall, I think Monopoly Worldwide is worth buying, you really can’t go wrong with something that costs $.99. Even if you’re not going to use it often, it’s always nice to have it there just encase you get stuck somewhere for a few hours and have nothing else to do. I would say Monopoly Worldwide is definitely a go buy now App, it’s a good one to have hanging around for if you ever need it!

Apples Updates At WWDC

Today the WWDC conference happened and Apple decided to give us an early Christmas!

Apple announced tons of new information and updates that are worth knowing about. Apple has some major news about the iPhone, the macbook, the macbook pro, the macbook air, the iPod Touch and some general all around news about everything else they have to offer.

First, and probably the biggest update, is the iPhone 3gs. Apple has revamped the iPhone 3g internally and is now calling their new product the iPhone 3gs. They decided not to make any external changes to the 3gs, but internally there’s a bit changed.

Apple has also released the 3.0 firmware for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Unfortunately for iPod Touch owners, the 3.0 firmware will be $9.99, but for all iPhone users it is free! This was a little disappointing, but maybe they’ll give a discount or something.

Apple has also been working on their Macbook Air recently and now has changed around the inner workings to make it into a much more powerful machine. In doing so, I think Apple has opened up the reach of the Macbook Air to lots more people who need a small laptop, but a little more power then the Air could offer before.

Apple has also changed around the Macbook and Macbook Pro families a little bit. Now the only Macbook that is still called a Macbook is the original, white, plastic Macbook. All of the other Macbooks moved into the Macbook Pro family. This is a pretty big change and along with that comes lots of price cuts so go check out the new prices.

Have a great week guys!

Last week, I was looking around for more products to review and I came across UniqueSkins and thought their products looked like a winner! I looked into it further and UniqueSkins was kind enough to send me out some skins to review! After receiving the skins and looking them over, I turned out to be correct in calling Unique Skins a winner, because these skins are super durable and high quality!

As far as how I like it, I think that Apple should include one of these skins with every iPod purchase, because everyone hates to scratch up that beautiful silver backing on their brand new iPod. This makes them go buy a case, even if they don’t want it and most of the time people shop around for a case, so Apple doesn’t get the money anyway! Skins are a perfect and inexpensive way to fix this problem! I’ve always had cases with all of my iPods and I never liked how fat it made the device, but now I know what to buy with my next iPod upgrade!

Overall my opinions on UniqueSkins products are that I’m simply amazed that I never came across them before. Their products are phenomenal and I don’t think there’s any better skins out there! The skins are made of thick, almost a silicon material that isn’t going to get ruined if wet and won’t tear unless you’re trying to tear it. Another amazing thing that Unique Skins pulled off is the quality of the custom image after being made into a skin. I gave them a high quality image and that image is just as high quality on my skin, no quality was lost in development and printing! Now that’s something to be proud of! Keep up the good work Unique Skins!

The skins start at $6.99 and vary in price depending on the size of the skin.
