Bump Top Released For Mac

Bump Top was officially released for Mac on January 22nd, 2010 and immediately took off right on launch day. Not only does it make a small monitor more convenient and easier to use, but it makes desktop organization extremely fast, easy, and fun!

I remember back a few years ago now, when Bump Top had just been released for Windows and it was a huge hit! People were ranting and raving over this little program. Some people didn’t know how such a simple, yet complex, idea could make such an impact for every type of user. I never actually downloaded Bump Top for Windows, because I already had a large monitor and I didn’t see the need for it, I just figured it was going to use up more resources in the background and slow down my computer, but now that I have a 13″ Unibody MacBook, I see the need and Bump Top was here to fill it!

Bump Top Icon

BumpTop basically takes all the features you already have with your desktop and combines them together with its own little twist to each. Most programs that try to do this, or something similar, usually fail miserably, but I have to give Bump Top props, because I couldn’t find anything that I would change that hasn’t already been done. To list a few of the features, Bump Top makes icon selection much easier and more precise, it offers the ability to stack icons, as well as group icons in many different designs.

Bump Tops main eye catcher is the 3D desktop environment it has to offer. You can have up to 5 different desktop wallpapers and to put it simply, you have 5 separate desktops all conveniently woven into one. I’m sure at this point, if you haven’t looked at the program, you are extremely confused as to what this all means. Well, if that’s the case, check out the video above and look for yourself as I capture my first reactions to all that BumpTop has to offer!

Overall, BumpTop is extremely user-friendly and easy to pick up and start using. It has lots of features included in the free version and I think they even put too many features in the free version, because I don’t even see the need to upgrade to the full version due to the access to so many tweaks and tools included. Bump Top is a must have for anyone with a laptop, but for a desktop, I don’t really see the need, but it definitely helps with organization and even does it with some style, so for you desktop users, the choice is yours, but I would recommend you give it a shot no matter what kind of computer you’re using.

Block All Firefox Ads

I know I’m not the only one who hates going to a website and having ads all over the place getting in the way of you trying to navigate around the website and ruining the overall experience. This has bothered me for years and eventually, most people develop tunnel vision and just ignore them, well that works, but there’s a much easier way and it’s called AdBlock Plus!

AdBlock Plus is completely free and I recommend it for all levels of users!

The download link is below, so click the link to download and keep reading and I’ll walk you through how to set it all up and get started!

Once you’ve downloaded the plugin and clicked install, it should ask you for the region you’re in and then have a long list of websites that AdBlock has deemed unwanted. You can go ahead and sort through all these if you would like, or you could just leave them all checked like I do and as you come across websites that are blocked that you would like to unblock, just manually unblock them with a click of the mouse!

So, once you’re done installing AdBlock Plus and you’ve customized all your settings and restarted FireFox, you should see a red stop sign in the top right-hand corner of your browser. When the icon is red, it means it is enabled and blocking all ads on the web page you’re currently on. If you would like to temporarily turn it off, click on the small arrow to the right of the icon and it will give you a drop-down box that has an option at the bottom that says, “enable Adblock Plus” and a check mark next to it. Just click that option and the check mark will go away and the icon will turn grey meaning that it is now disabled. To turn AdBlock back on, just do the same thing you did to turn it off.

There is one more option you have in AdBlock as far as the status of the plugin. Instead of having to disable AdBlock every time you go to a specific website, you can turn it off for the entire domain or just a specific page on the domain and every time you go to there, AdBlock will automatically turn itself off until you leave that page. To do this, click the drop-down arrow again while you’re on the web page you want to do this on and click on either “disable on this page only” or “disable on insertwebsitehere.com” and each will do as they say.

There are other minor tweaks you can do, but they’re not main components, so you can mess around with the rest of them on your own time, but that’s how to set up AdBlock Plus so you will never see another ad again unless you choose to!

I’ve been wanting to switch over to the Mac Os X Platform for years, but I didn’t have the money or the motivation. Now that I’m going away for most of the summer, I needed a laptop and I decided to make the big buy!

I decided to purchase my 13″ Unibody Macbook Pro from Craigslist because purchasing a new Macbook was slightly out of my range. This turned out to be a bonus, as Apple’s Mighty Mouse and Incase’s Black Incase came included with my purchase. I will have separate reviews for each of these products later on.

I must say, for the first time owning a Mac, it’s not too hard to get used to, and the multitouch trackpad is just amazing! The trackpad should have been invented years ago, it is by far the easiest trackpad to pick up.

As far as I’m concerned, this is the best purchase I could have made and am extremely happy I bought it!

Check back later for my full reviews on everything included with my 13″ Unibody Macbook Pro!

Last week, I was looking around for more products to review and I came across UniqueSkins and thought their products looked like a winner! I looked into it further and UniqueSkins was kind enough to send me out some skins to review! After receiving the skins and looking them over, I turned out to be correct in calling Unique Skins a winner, because these skins are super durable and high quality!

As far as how I like it, I think that Apple should include one of these skins with every iPod purchase, because everyone hates to scratch up that beautiful silver backing on their brand new iPod. This makes them go buy a case, even if they don’t want it and most of the time people shop around for a case, so Apple doesn’t get the money anyway! Skins are a perfect and inexpensive way to fix this problem! I’ve always had cases with all of my iPods and I never liked how fat it made the device, but now I know what to buy with my next iPod upgrade!

Overall my opinions on UniqueSkins products are that I’m simply amazed that I never came across them before. Their products are phenomenal and I don’t think there’s any better skins out there! The skins are made of thick, almost a silicon material that isn’t going to get ruined if wet and won’t tear unless you’re trying to tear it. Another amazing thing that Unique Skins pulled off is the quality of the custom image after being made into a skin. I gave them a high quality image and that image is just as high quality on my skin, no quality was lost in development and printing! Now that’s something to be proud of! Keep up the good work Unique Skins!

The skins start at $6.99 and vary in price depending on the size of the skin.

Hannspree 23″ HD Monitor – HF237

The Hannspree 23″ widescreen HD monitor review! The cost of this monitor is about $220. Amazon currently does not offer the Hannspree 23″ monitor for sale so I can’t give you a link to buy it, but you can easily find it by searching for, “Hannspree 23″ monitor”.

I got the Hannspree 23″ monitor as a replacement for my Hannspree 22″ monitor that the hdmi broke on. Thankfully, Best Buy gave me the upgrade for free and extended my old warranty so that the new 23″ monitor is covered by my warranty that I bought for my 22″ monitor.

While I was using my old Hannspree 22″ monitor for almost a year, Hannspree was working hard on fine tuning their monitor designs and I would have to say I didn’t realize so much could be changed for the better!

One of my concerns about the 22″ monitor was that disassembly was very difficult. Hannspree redesigned the entire neck of the monitor. They made the neck and base two seperate parts that connect together with four prongs. These two pieces are very easy to take apart, you just need to squeeze two of the prongs together and they slide right apart. Hannspree also changed the way the base connects to the back of the monitor. They made a button in the back that makes it awesomely simple to take the base off of the monitor.

While Hannspree was busy redesigning the base of the new 23″ monitor, they also put some thought into redesigning the monitor itself. They moved the power light indicator to the side of the monitor for easier visibility and made the entire monitor quite a bit thinner. They left the control buttons in the same spot, but changed the type of buttons a little bit for easier usage.

After seeing and using this new 23″ monitor I was amazed at how many things were changed and improved on the 23″ Hannspree monitor! I think the older version or this new version are great options for someone on a budget who is looking for a high quality monitor for their computer or for their gaming system!
