Fighting, the movie, was released on April 24, 2009.
I haven’t done a whole lot of movie reviews, so I don’t really have a set format of specific points that I’m going to go over in this review, but I’ll try to keep it fairly organized.

So, the first part I think I should go over is the basic storyline. The main character is a guy living on the streets of New York City who’s name is Shawn. He basically makes his money from street vending until one day he got robbed which led to him getting involved with an underground fight agent who recruited Shawn into the business. As the movie continues, Shawn has to work to make a name for himself in the underground street fighting world of New York City.
Now as many of you know, I’m a pretty big UFC fan and that’s the main reason why I even bothered to go watch this movie. Even though the fighting was pretty well done, realistically there were a lot of major flaws. If you’re a fan of UFC, wrestling, or almost any form of martial arts you will most likely be disappointed from this point of view, as was I. This being said, Fighting was also right on the money during some points of the movie, so you won’t be completely annoyed.

As far as the rating of this movie, I thought there was going to be a lot more foul language and sexuality, but to my surprise, there was only one “scene” and although there were quite a few foul words, they weren’t always audible enough for you to pick up. There are quite a few scenes shot in a club environment, but there was very minimal sexuality shown in that environment.
Fighting tries to be comical at times, but it’s more of a modern day fairy tale as Shawn has to fight his way up the ranks to get revenge on a childhood rival and eventually rides off into the sunset with the girl of his dreams, her daughter, one-million dollars, and the one who roped Shawn into the fighting world to begin with.
Overall, Fighting was well done, I enjoyed it even with the flaws mentioned. I think if you’re just looking to fill up 2 hours, this will do the job and maybe even give you some excitement along the way.
